I’ve been going to Dr. Louie for many years and had nothing but great experiences. On one of my early visits, he surmised that I might have trouble with snoring and sleep apnea. He was spot on. I had been using a CPAP machine for a few years with results which were mixed at best. He recommended a mouth appliance which extended my lower jaw while I slept to open the air passage. I was excited to try it – and had great results (not to mention the relief my wife experienced with the cessation of my snoring).

I have had three subsequent sleep studies all of which show the VERY positive results. Additionally, as a nighttime teeth grinder, it has been a great help in protecting my teeth.

I have been extremely happy with Dr. Louie. He has been an exceptional dentist, and although I live an hour and a half away from his office, me and my family have been making the drive to see him for the past 25 years.

Recently, he treated my sleep apnea with a custom dental appliance that I wear at night before going to bed. The results have been life changing. Dr. Louie and his team have helped me minimize apnea discomfort and snoring since 2021. He specializes in helping patients use a night-guard device from an Australian dental appliance company. SomnoMed’s appliance is a custom-made mandibular advancement splint (MAS) designed to treat snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

He did a diagnosis in conjunction with a sleep clinic to determine whether the appliance could help me. (The appliance doesn’t work for everyone with apnea.) He and clinic doctors confirmed the severity and type of my apnea. They concurred I was an eligible candidate for the appliance.

Dr. Louie’s expertise is his artistry in measuring and fitting the appliance to fit each patient. He knows my mouth, my teeth and my breathing and sleeping habits. His extra care resulted in me having a comfortable fit. He regularly adjusts the appliance for fit and effectiveness. Once, I had to see another dentist because of traveling. The other dentist was very nice but he didn’t have the same precision in making a needed adjustment.

Bottom line: I am sleeping better and snoring less thanks to Dr. Louie. By the way, he also uses the SomnoDent himself.

Dr. Louie was able to set up an at home sleep apnea test for me, which allowed my insurance to cover some of my sleep apnea device. The device is very comfortable to wear – as Dr. Louie describes it, his nightly pacifier. I just want to say THANK YOU sooooo much to Dr. Shervin and his staff. My boyfriend is in town visiting for the holidays from the UK (where they have free National Healthcare) His crown became loose and he was worried it would come out before he made it back home.
